Delivering Therapy Online
- 13th Aug '20 11.00 am – 1.00 pm
Many households across cultures and societies in the world have access to the Internet. The internet is seen to be useful in shopping, banking, entertainment, booking holidays and maintaining contact with friends and family. Technological developments over the past decade have touched most Professions, perhaps most predominant in the Corporate sector as well as the Tourism industry.
This trend is also picking up in the field mental health and wellbeing, as evident by the increasing number of online counselling services. Despite the growth of online counselling, it is not necessarily the case that theorists have had the opportunity to frame a cohesive understanding of what it means to perform therapy online. This is largely due to limitations of the existing body of research on the topic. Nevertheless, with more practitioners attempting to offer psychological support via the internet and more demand for Online Therapy either due to global circumstances or clients’ personal choice, it is imperative that we understand how the therapeutic relationship develops and is maintained in an online environment.
The workshop will focus on:
Framework for evaluation: Thee 3 stage evaluative model of common factors in therapy.
- Online Therapy and the Therapeutic Alliance.
- Online Therapy in Practice
- Cultural Implications and Client Factors : Open discussion
- Questions from the audience

An approach to service delivery that stemmed out of necessity in January 2018 is now a niche therapeutic modality for her.
