Explaining COVID 19 to Children – an Existential Perspective
- 30th Jul '20 11.00 am – 1.00 pm
The demand for children’s mental health support appears to be growing and this workshop will provide a space to discuss and refelct on ethical and practical considerations of this work. An existential approach to therapy requires practitioners to question their own position in the therapeutic relationship and this is never more relevant than when working with children.
The workshop will challenge participants to consider some of the assumptions they may have on how, where and when it may, or may not be, appropriate to discuss with children. Concepts such as anxiety, death and uncertainty confinement, lockdown, social distancing and new normal will be discussed.
