Structural Existential Analysis (SEA)

  • Online
  • 17th Jul '26 10.00 am – 1.00 pm

Following the success of the book on Structural Existential Analysis (SEA) by Emmy van Deurzen and Claire Arnold-Baker, and the growing use of this method in students’ doctoral research projects, this three-hour workshop offers an accessible introduction to the approach, led by those who have shaped the method through their clinical and research practice. It provides a rare opportunity to encounter SEA from within, engaging directly with its spirit, foundations, and its systematic, carefully structured and layered way of opening up lived human experience.

Through selected examples and guided reflection, participants will be introduced to key elements of SEA, including its focus on meaning, situatedness, relational context, and the exploration of tensions, directions, and possibilities within experience. The session will also offer a sense of how the method can be used and applied in both research and practice. The workshop is suitable for therapists, psychologists, researchers, and students considering SEA for their own research projects, offering a grounded and engaging way into the approach.

This workshop is online and includes a CPD certificate.
