The Body as a Living Process

  • Online
  • 4th Jun '26 2.00 pm – 4.00 pm

Grounded in the Life/Art Process developed by Anna Halprin at the Tamalpa Institute, this session offers a somatically informed and creative space to explore our relationship with the body. Through a range of embodied and expressive practices — including movement, breath, dance, drawing, and reflective writing — participants are gently guided to engage with a specific body metaphor (such as the spine, ribcage, shoulders, arms, or hands).
Using the body as a starting point, the session invites exploration of the personal and collective themes that naturally emerge, supporting connection, self-awareness, and meaning-making within a safe and supportive environment.

Aims of the session
● To cultivate embodied awareness and presence
● To support creative expression and artful communication
● To encourage gentle self-exploration through the body
● To promote healing, reflection, and growth within a relational and community context

Background and therapeutic approach
Somatic practices invite us to turn our attention inward and become compassionate witnesses to our lived experience. By listening to the body — noticing sensations, images, impulses, and emotions — we create space for awareness and change. When attention shifts, experience can shift too.
This session offers an invitation to enter into dialogue with the body through movement and creative expression, allowing participants to listen to what is present and meet it with curiosity rather than judgement. The creative process makes inner experience visible, offering a way to explore what is unfolding internally and how it takes shape through embodied and artistic expression.

This workshop is online and includes a CPD certificate.
